Whew!

Whew! Life is so crazy lately! All of last week I spent madly trying to clean house, do errands, etc. in preparation for Trevor's mom to come to visit. I did mostly get everything done, but I was completely exhausted all week long. On top of all the cleaning, teaching, kids activities that we had on the schedule, Emily had her dress rehearsals all week long for her dance recital. It was so busy to take her to practice every single night of the week. Yikes! Trevor and I did a long of shuttling. And, amidst all of the hustle and bustle, I still managed to get up at 6:00 each morning to exercise. I've been walking with Colette a couple of mornings each week, and doing yoga/pilates on the other days. I definitely feel like I'm getting back in shape again, and I've dropped a couple of pounds.
Trevor's mom came late on Friday evening, and left this morning at 7:00 a.m. (Wednesday) We had a really nice visit. She was able to stay a little longer than usual. It was fun for her to be here for Emily's dance recital (She was SO beautiful! and danced quite confidently.) and the kids' Saturday soccer games. Also, we had mother's day on Sunday, which was fun to celebrate with her here. The kids brought us both breakfast in bed, and made me some really cute cards. We had a nice dinner--our favorite--French Dip sandwiches! Then on Monday, we went to Nauvoo and Carthage and spent the day there. We were all completely exhausted, but it was worth it for the fun times together. The kids were pretty good, but got tired of squishing in and out of the van. Sam had a hard time keeping his hands off all the antique items in the homes we toured. We picnicked for lunch and dinner, and were able to see the musical show in the evening. The kids were super well behaved for that--and I know Raquel really enjoyed it.
The only kink in the day was that we got a speeding ticket on the way home. Big bummer. It was $75.00 No fun paying that.
Then on Tuesday, we celebrated Emily's birthday. When the kids got home from school, we had birthday cake (strawberry angel food cake) Then I went to teach my class while the rest went to Max's Tae Kwon Do class. I met the rest of the family at the chinese buffet restaurant after class for a birthday celebration. We all ate too much, but it was fun that they brought Emily a special birthday dessert and sang to her. Then we came home to open presents. 10 years old! Double digits now for my oldest baby. Unbelievable. She's such a big girl now--a little bit of attitude, but generally very mature and helpful. I'm very proud of her.
Ginny was darling the whole time Raquel was here. Smiley and happy girl. Sam loves to climb everything--no matter where we are!
Anyway, it was fun to have a grandma come and visit. I think it all worked out pretty well.
I've spent today getting ready for Max's cub scout activity tonight. We're getting ready for our hike, and making a cool leather craft. I think the boys will really like making their own wallets. Being the den leader this year has been a lot of fun--I'm glad I did it even if it has been a lot of work.
Whew! See why I'm so tired all the time!??
Ate way too much over the weekend--now I need to really get back to basics with the exercise and diet. Lots of fruits and veggies this week.
Later!
